CM Series: High-Performance Small-Space Flexible Coaxial Cable
CM Series: High-Performance Small-Space Flexible Coaxial Cable is designed for compact RF modules and microwave systems where installation space is limited. This flexible coaxial cable provides reliable RF signal transmission, low loss and stable electrical performance, making it suitable for radar electronics, communication equipment, RF modules, microwave assemblies and satellite communication systems.
CM Series: High-Performance Small-Space Flexible Coaxial Cables
AO Microwave’s high-precision CM Series coaxial cables are designed to deliver low loss and high shielding inside extremely tight physical enclosures up to 50 GHz [3.3.4]. Built with micro-coaxial profiles (including 0.047-inch and 0.086-inch outer diameters) featuring low-density solid or foamed PTFE dielectrics, these mini-flexible cables incorporate high-purity silver-plated copper inner conductors and high-density braided shields. Operating across standard bands with micro-connector options (such as SMP, SMPM, SSMA, and 2.92mm), our CM Series assemblies achieve a low typical input VSWR of < 1.25:1 and outstanding shielding effectiveness.
These high-performance micro-cable assemblies are engineered to minimize insertion loss in small diameters. They are critical for dense RF chassis wiring, multi-channel card-to-card SMPM interfaces, and compact aerospace avionic modules.

Minimizing Attenuation & Impedance Steps in Micro-Cables
Micro-coaxial cables (with outer diameters below 2 mm) suffer from higher insertion loss than larger cables because of their extremely thin center conductors, which increase ohmic resistance. Additionally, transitioning from a tiny cable core to standard coaxial connectors can introduce impedance discontinuities, causing reflections and degrading the VSWR.
AO Microwave resolves these high-frequency attenuation and transition issues by using silver-plated copper inner conductors and highly uniform solid PTFE dielectrics. By optimizing the transition geometry inside our micro-connectors (such as SMP, SMPM, and SSMA), we minimize capacitive discontinuities, ensuring low VSWR and stable performance up to 50 GHz [3.3.4].
Target Applications & Operational Advantages
By providing low insertion loss and high shielding inside tight physical enclosures, our CM Series micro-cables secure critical active modules:
Dense RF Chassis Internal Wiring
Function: Routes high-frequency RF signals between internal cards and sub-assemblies inside dense cabinets.
Advantage: Extremely thin outer diameter allows for tight-radius routing in confined spaces, maintaining stable amplitude.
Multi-Channel SMP/SMPM Interfaces
Function: Connects multi-channel push-on SMP or SMPM connector interfaces on high-density PCBs.
Advantage: Gold-plated beryllium copper contacts provide low contact resistance, ensuring highly repeatable connections.
Compact Aerospace Avionic Modules
Function: Routes RF signals in space-limited airborne and UAV avionic compartments.
Advantage: Lightweight construction and small physical footprint help meet strict mass and volume budgets, maintaining low VSWR.
