CMR Series: Low-Loss Communication Coaxial Cable
CMR Series: Low-Loss Communication Coaxial Cable is designed for high-frequency RF communication systems requiring stable signal transmission and reduced signal attenuation. It is widely used in wireless communication networks, satellite communication equipment, radar electronics, RF modules and microwave communication systems.
CMR Series: Low-Loss & Low-PIM Communication Coaxial Cables
AO Microwave’s high-precision CMR Series coaxial cables are designed to deliver low insertion loss alongside low無源互调 (Low PIM) up to 18 GHz. Housed in weather-proof black polyethylene (PE) jackets, these communication-grade cables feature micro-cellular foamed polyethylene dielectrics and thick solid copper center conductors. Wrapped with a double-shielded outer wire braid (using high-conductivity copper and aluminum-foil tapes) and available in standard sizes (such as CMR-240 and CMR-400), our CMR Series assemblies achieve an exceptional typical PIM of < -155 dBc, low VSWR, and low attenuation over long runs.
These low-PIM assemblies are engineered to minimize signal distortion in active networks. They are critical for outdoor base station antenna runs, satellite ground station downlinks, and distributed antenna systems (DAS).

Understanding Passive Intermodulation (PIM) in Communication Systems
In high-capacity multi-carrier communication systems, different transmitter carriers can mix non-linearly, generating spurious signals known as Passive Intermodulation (PIM). PIM occurs at metal-to-metal contacts inside connectors or cable interfaces due to mechanical oxidation, loose contacts, or ferromagnetic materials.
If these spurious PIM products leak into the adjacent receiver band, they can mask weak incoming signals, degrading receiver sensitivity. AO Microwave's CMR Series cables are engineered specifically to minimize PIM. By utilizing solid, highly polished copper center conductors, non-magnetic connector bodies, and precision-soldered or crimped transitions, we keep PIM levels below -155 dBc, ensuring reliable performance in cellular and satellite systems.
Target Applications & Operational Advantages
By providing low insertion loss and low-PIM performance, our CMR Series communication cables secure active networks:
Base Station Antenna Runs
Function: Connects outdoor base station antennas to indoor transmitter/receiver racks.
Advantage: Exceptional UV protection and water-blocking capabilities prevent environmental degradation in outdoor installations.
Satellite Ground Station Downlinks
Function: Routes high-frequency satellite downlink signals from dish feeds to receiver LNAs.
Advantage: Low PIM (<-155 dBc) prevents transmitter leakage from corrupting weak incoming signals, maintaining receiver sensitivity.
Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
Function: Routes RF signals in indoor distributed antenna networks.
Advantage: Symmetrical double-shielded copper and aluminum-foil braids provide high shielding effectiveness (>90 dB) to prevent cross-talk.
