AO Microwave’s high-precision coaxial rotary joints are designed to transmit RF and microwave signals across continuously rotating mechanical interfaces with minimum loss. Built with rugged, passivated stainless steel housings, these joint assemblies incorporate precision-milled beryllium copper sliding contacts and high-grade ball bearings. Operating up to 40 GHz with standard SMA, Type N, and 2.92mm (K) connector options, our rotary joints achieve a low typical insertion loss of < 0.30 dB, VSWR under 1.25:1, and low insertion loss variation ("Wow") of < 0.05 dB across a 360-degree rotation.
These low-torque coaxial rotary joints are critical for rotating Satcom antennas, tactical radar pedestals, marine scanners, and airborne gimbals. They provide a highly stable and reliable RF path across rotating mechanical boundaries.

Precision Sliding Contacts & Low Torque
Coaxial rotary joints transmit high-frequency signals across a rotating mechanical interface. To maintain stable characteristic impedance across 360 degrees of rotation, the inner and outer sliding conductors must maintain continuous, reliable physical contact.
AO Microwave utilizes precision-milled, gold-plated beryllium copper contacts configured as concentric spring fingers. These contacts slide against a smooth inner pin, maintaining low contact resistance and preventing signal drops. High-grade ball bearings ensure smooth, low-torque rotation and minimize eccentricity, keeping the insertion loss variation ("Wow") low across the band.
