Standard Gain Horn Antennas with Integrated Coaxial Connectors
AO Microwave’s high-precision standard gain horn antennas with built-in connectors are designed to provide direct coaxial connection for microwave and millimeter-wave radiation with a predictable gain and linear polarization. By machining the waveguide-to-coaxial adapter transition directly into the back-short cavity of the horn, we eliminate the need for a separate transition adapter. Fabricated from premium aluminum alloys via CNC milling, these antennas incorporate gold-plated coaxial pins (SMA, 2.92mm, or 2.4mm) to maintain low electrical resistance. Operating up to 50 GHz, our built-in connector horns deliver standard gain values of 10, 15, 20, or 25 dBi, a low typical input VSWR of < 1.25:1, and low insertion loss.
These integrated antennas are engineered to provide a compact, lightweight routing solution. By eliminating the bulky physical flange interface, they enable direct coaxial connection, making them highly suited for compact anechoic chamber testing, portable field strength monitoring, and radar cross-section (RCS) setups.

Integrated Cavity Tuning in Built-in Connector Horns
Built-in connector horn antennas eliminate the bolted flange interface between the waveguide horn and a separate waveguide-to-coaxial adapter. In this design, the transition probe is machined directly into the back-short cavity of the horn structure.
Tuning the transition probe directly within the horn's back-short requires precise mechanical alignment during fabrication. AO Microwave utilizes specialized internal tuning structures and 3D electromagnetic simulations to optimize the probe geometry, ensuring a flat, broadband VSWR response without the need for a separate transition adapter. This integrated design reduces overall size and weight, making it suitable for compact, space-limited testing.
