Standard Gain Horn Antennas with Detachable Coaxial Connectors
AO Microwave’s high-precision standard gain horn antennas with split connectors are designed to offer the ultimate flexibility between direct waveguide and coaxial connections. This system combines a standard gain waveguide-port horn antenna with a separate, detachable waveguide-to-coaxial adapter. Fabricated from premium aluminum alloys via CNC milling, these antennas feature gold-plated contact interfaces and precise alignment pins. Operating up to 50 GHz, our split connector horns deliver standard gain values of 10, 15, 20, or 25 dBi, a low typical input VSWR of < 1.25:1 with the adapter connected, and excellent cross-polarization isolation.
By utilizing a detachable configuration, our split connector horns allow engineers to easily switch between waveguide and coaxial connections. This flexibility makes them highly suited for multi-purpose laboratory measurements, flexible antenna test ranges, and environmental EMI field testing.

Flexible Interfacing in Split-Connector pyrimidal Horns
Split-connector horn antennas provide ultimate flexibility. By supplying a standard gain waveguide-port horn with a separate, detachable waveguide-to-coaxial adapter, we allow the user to easily switch between waveguide and coaxial connections.
However, adding a mechanical junction (the bolted flanges) introduces a potential site for impedance mismatch and insertion loss. AO Microwave resolves these interface-related losses by using precision machined flange faces and high-purity gold-plated contacts. Using standard alignment dowel pins ensures concentricity when reassembling the adapter, maintaining low VSWR and consistent phase behavior.
