Waveguide Power Combiner
Waveguide Power Combiner combines multiple microwave signals into a single output with high efficiency and excellent phase stability. Ideal for high-power RF transmitters, radar systems, satellite uplinks and microwave communication infrastructure.
High-Efficiency Waveguide Power Combiners for Active Transmitter Systems
AO Microwave’s waveguide power combiners are designed to merge RF signals from multiple sources (such as Solid-State Power Amplifiers - SSPAs) into a single high-power output port with minimum loss. Machined from solid copper and aluminum alloys, these combiners incorporate integrated heatsink interfaces to manage thermal dissipation. Operating up to 110 GHz, our combiners deliver a high combining efficiency of typically > 90%, port-to-port isolation of > 20 dB, and a low input VSWR of < 1.20:1 across the band.
By utilizing symmetrical internal paths and precision impedance matching, our power combiners ensure stable performance. They are critical for SSPA transmitter combining, high-power radar feed networks, and satellite ground uplink transmitters.

Phase Alignment Requirements in Waveguide Combining
Waveguide power combiners rely on phase coherence to merge signals efficiently. If the input signals are out of phase, a portion of the power will be reflected or dissipated, reducing combining efficiency.
To resolve these phase alignment challenges, AO Microwave uses symmetric internal combining networks. By utilizing precision-milled branch configurations, we ensure that the electrical path lengths from all input ports to the common output are identical. This symmetry minimizes phase imbalance and ensures high combining efficiency across the band.
Target Applications & Operational Advantages
By providing high combining efficiency with low insertion loss, our waveguide power combiners enable stable performance in active transmitter setups:
SSPA Transmitter Combining
Function: Merges the outputs of multiple low-power solid-state amplifiers to construct a high-power transmitter.
